Of this world NOT in this world

I am a Christian, meaning I believe whole heartedly that God came to this earth in human form as His son Jesus to die for my sins and to save me so that I can have eternal life. I pray those visiting this blog are also saved. If not, I am happy to discuss more about it!!!

As Christians we are called to be separate from this world and I strive to do that…but it’s HARD. I struggle daily with finding a way to separate myself from this world. In all honesty, I go about most days not even thinking of it, or thinking of it after the fact. I use the convenience that this world brings to my doorstep by ordering groceries, enjoy the connection the world brings to my fingertips through social media, the daily routine that makes me feel in control, and I blend into the sea of the millions of individuals just living their lives the way they do everyday. I want to stand apart in this world! I want someone to look at me from the outside and ask "what is different about her?". Not just in the "Oh she's a special one, bless her heart”...which has been said many times about me in the past haha. I am loud, I am crazy, I am nerdy, I am my own person and I stand out in a crowd for reasons that have nothing to do with Christianity, but also have everything to do with who God made me to be. How to translate who I am into when someone sees the “difference" they know it‘a because I am not "of the world", that's the hard part. It's not enough to be loud, crazy, or uniquely me. I need to live with intention, use my gifts given to show God in ways that others may never have thought of. That's the part I hope to teach my children. That's the part I hope to learn myself. How then do you make sure your intention separates you from the world?

I don't have the answer to this struggle, I don't know if there is an answer...I think the true testament may come more from action. I think that no one can actually tell you how to "be the salt and the light of the earth". All of us see, feel, receive, things different from our neighbor. Life is never a "one size fits all" (or even most). The success in being set apart comes with our daily intentional strive to do just that. It comes with actively seeking the joy, the light, the "saltiness" that come from having God in our lives. We should express outwardly what He is working on within us. That causes me to think then, no one can truly answer this question of differentiation except God. He is working on each of us in a way that is as unique as He made us. We may not feel it, we may not see it, but who's to say someone living on the outside doesn't?

Be salt, be light, be joy, be loud, be who God made you to be and a seed will be planted. A seed of “what makes them different”. God will take that and grow the seed you planted in that outsider looking it. Something as small as a smile can set us apart from this world and plant the seed. This world is dark, filled with sin, filled with idols...be the sunshine to someone's gloom, be the rope to pull them out of their sin, be the accountability to break down those idols and that will plant the seed of God's love, of God's sacrifice, of a relationship with Our Father. THAT SEED is what is different from the world. THAT SEED is what sets us apart as Christians. God will put people in the seed's path to water it, He will put us in other seed's paths as well. We may not see the harvest from the seed we planted, but God does, and that is not tied to this world!!

XOXO,
